Digital IQ
What is meant by
Digital QI?
Digital IQ is a company's competence and skill to use
digital tools, in other words its capacity to be innovative, modern and to
offer efficient programs. It can concern the visibility on Facebook, Twitter,
Youtube and so on, the creation of an innovative platform online and the
customer engagement through several steps toward purchase.
In order to evaluate a company's digital IQ, we can
give it some points and rankings according to a list of criteria. Thus a genius
has more than 140 points and a feeble less than 70. For instance, in the hotel
insdustry, the company N°1 in Digital IQ is Four
Seasons thanks mainly to the
group's new website and its visibility on various social media.
What are the components of Digital IQ?
The components of Digital IQ are Mobile, Site, Social
Media and Digital Marketing.
So companies have to be efficient and present on
these four sectors in order to improve their Digital IQ.
- Mobile: Smartphone App, tablet site, innovation
(geolocalization,...)
- Site: innovative official website with modern design
and interactive parts, customer service, online loyalty programs...
- Social Media: the right one (according to the
company's specializations) or as many social media as possible: different
strategies. Active part: forum, events...
- Digital Marketing: Search, Blog and email
(newsletter), presence on emerging platforms (Google +, Pinterest…)
Sustainable food: waste, energy & water
Today's article is about solutions to get more sustainable food. It is entitled "You've got better food, now..." and was written in the website Sustainweb.org.
The journalist would like people to include the overall food system. It's written "Sustainability is not just about the food you eat." Indeed, people should take into account sub issues, like waste, energy and water. According to the article, it is very important to sort out the waste, to choose mature fruit instead of green ones and ask for minimal packaging for example.
So we can say that every citizen may make a few efforts in order to protect the environment and get quality product while being part of the sustainable process.

"A boost for sustainable restaurants" article (Guardian)
This newspaper article that is entitled "A boost for sustainable restaurants?" was written in the British online newspaper Guardian.co.uk.
It is about the English Sustainable Restaurant Association and their criteria for the accreditation of sustainable restaurants.
What I like in this article is that the journalist is questioning the association's accreditation system because he or she thinks that they are too limited (only three criteria) and that it could allow companies like KFC or Pizza Hut to apply for such a certification, even if it does not have a strong sustainable development system.
Do you think that the Association should allow every company apply for the sustainable certification or it should develop more criteria in order to do a better and stricter selection? According to you, is McDonald ready today to be accredited by official sustainable associations?
